Dogs left unattended in a squatter hut in Fung Kat Heung

The Police referred a suspected cruelty case to SPCA inspectors on 27 July 2017, mentioning that several dogs were left unattended in a squatter hut at Fung Kat Heung, Yuen Long without water and food for at least 2 weeks. SPCA inspectors went to the scene and found 6 dogs lying dead on floor coupled with a wide variety of decompositions, and 2 dog skulls were also found on the floor.

Inspectors found 6 more dogs and 5 terrapins alive at scene, and all seized to the SPCA centre for veterinary examination and custodian. All terrapins were sent to the AFCD after treatments while dogs were sent to the SPCA adoption centre. All of the rescued dogs were finally homed.

After investigation, the police arrested a 35-year-old kitchen worker on suspicion of cruelty to animal, and he admitted the offence.
