Prosecution Cases

Pet Smuggling

On August 21, 2020, the Police and Customs cracked a large-scale maritime smuggling case, in which 12 dogs were found and were all sent to the SPCA. One week later, on August 26 and 27, several pet cages containing animal carcasses have been washed up on the beaches in Stanley and Lamma Island, leading to suspicion that pets were being smuggled into the mainland by boats. A total of 15 animal carcasses in 3 pet cages were discovered. After investigation, the police arrested a man and a woman who were suspected to be involved in the case. One of them was the owner of a pet hotel in Tuen Mun.
