On 27 April 2019, SPCA inspectors carried out an inspection at the Stray Wonderland animal shelter in Ping Che, Ta Kwu Ling after being informed by concerned parties. Upon arrival, animal carcasses could be seen everywhere. The floor was covered with excrement, food remains, and stinky water. The SPCA sent 37 inspectors, veterinarians, staff and volunteer inspectors to the scene and spent two days on searching and rescuing. Carcasses of 28 dogs and 8 cats were found. The remaining 74 dogs and 36 cats alive were all rescued and sent to the SPCA centre and handed over to the veterinary team for medical treatment. After about 7 months of treatment and rehabilitation, all cats and dogs have been successfully homed.
