Joined the SPCA in 1995
Bob joined the SPCA Inspectorate Team in 1995. He heard of the job through a friend and decided to give it a try. Since then, Bob has been a committed animal inspector for 25 years. Throughout his career, he has been through many ups and downs. It saddens him when he sees victims of animal cruelty, but his greatest satisfaction comes from seeing pets rescued and returned to the owners.
Bob recalls his most unforgettable memory from 2017, when there was a mongrel dog trapped on a two-storey tall rock in Kwai Tei Village, Fo Tan. Together with other inspectors, Bob spent 52 hours (more than two days straight!) rescuing the stranded dog. They had to conduct searches in the valley, abseil down the sides of the 60-feet-tall cliff, and use a rubber boat to cross the streams. Fortunately, the frightened and hungry mongrel was uninjured. He was thrilled when the dog was finally reunited with his owner at the Wanchai centre - seeing the joy on the owner’s face makes all the hard work worthwhile. Bob hopes that he can keep on helping animals in need in the future as an inspector.
